Programme Description

The Ph.D. in Human Rights is a specialized research programme under the School of Arts & Humanities. It is designed for scholars to engage in original research that contributes to the global discourse on social justice, legal protections, and the advancement of human dignity.

Primary Research Thrust Areas:

Scholars are encouraged to explore advanced frameworks in international and domestic human rights landscape:

  • International Human Rights Law and Global Governance
  • Rights of Vulnerable Groups (Women, Children, and Refugees)
  • Conflict Resolution, Transitional Justice, and Peace-building
  • Socio-Economic Rights and Development Ethics

A.) Registration & Admission Fees (One-time Only)

  • Prospectus & Form: 1500.00
  • Registration Fee: 1000.00
  • Admission Fee: 6000.00
  • Caution Money (Refundable): 10000.00

B.) Admission Fee per Semester

  • 1st Installment (1st Sem): Rs. 4800/-
  • Subsequent Installments: As per University Norms

Research Facilities & Scholar Support

  • Human Rights Resource Center: Access to international legal databases and case study archives.
  • Field Advocacy: Institutional support for research with NGOs and Human Rights Commissions inside or outside Manipur.
  • Government Scholarship: Support available for eligible doctoral candidates through central and state research fellowships.
  • Publication Support: Mentorship for scholars to publish original research in high-impact international law journals.

Eligibility & Duration

  • Eligibility: Postgraduate degree in Law, Social Sciences, or relevant discipline
  • Duration: 3-5 Years

Admission is based on academic merit, a research entrance test, and a personal interview to discuss the research proposal and methodology.
